Phonics

Phonics at St. Luke's

The Phonics Curriculum is delivered through the Bug Club Synthetic Phonics Scheme.

Children in Creswell, Elmton and Rufford Classes take part in daily phonics lessons following the phases appropriate to their year group, with any children needing support/reinforcement of learning from previous phases receiving this in addition.

Our online e-book system, which is organised by phases supporting the teaching programme, can be found here:

ActiveLearn: Login (activelearnprimary.co.uk)

All children will be given a login for this, please contact your child's class teacher if you need any help with this.

We have recently purchased additional paper copies of Bug Club phonics books, which are fully decodable and these will be allocated according to your child's current phonics ability level.

To be able to read this book independently, your child should be able to decode at least 95% of the words in the book without any support. This is the book we will be asking you to focus on reading at home in order to support their phonics and reading development.

Your child will still bring home other books to share with you, this 'Share a Story Book' is to read together.

Please do look at the further information and links below from Bug Club Phonics, which will allow you to support your child with their learning.
